Learn how to meditate at our weekly Buddhist meditation classes Leeds city centre.
Each weekly meeting includes a period of guided meditation followed by a friendly and informal discussion around meditation and the Buddhist thought and teachings that underpin the practice of Buddhist meditation. As you would expect, tea and biscuits are provided!
Classes are suitable for those with an existing meditation practice and for those completely new to Buddhism and meditation. Beginners are always very welcome.
Each meditation class explores:
- what is meditation and how can it help?
- Formless Meditation instruction
- setting up meditation posture
- mindfulness in daily life
- taking meditation deeper
Our next meeting is Thursday 26th April 2018. We will be practising some formless meditation together and then looking at a wonderful poem by Rumi – a master in the Sufi tradition. The poem continues our exploration on Indestructible Heart Essence and connections between heart and mind. The poem beautifully evokes what it might mean to be a “Servant of the Heart”. Newcomers and beginners are very welcome.
Classes run from 7.15pm to 9.30pm and are held at The Quaker Meeting House, 188 Woodhouse Lane, Leeds LS2 9DX.
In accordance with Buddhist principles we do not charge for our meditation classes. We do welcome voluntary donations towards our running costs. Donations of £5-£6 per person are a suggested guideline for those on a living wage. A donation is not a requirement of attendance.
Classes are led by an experienced meditation practitioner from the Awakened Heart Sangha. In addition to years of personal meditation experience, our class leaders have received extensive training in how to communicate meditation to others and in providing ongoing meditation guidance and mentoring and are authorised to transmit these meditation practices.
